During a light-hearted segment on his podcast with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the viral "Melodi memes" involving him and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
When Kamath asked Modi if he had seen the memes circulating on the internet, the Prime Minister dismissed it, saying “Wo toh chalta rehta hai” (That just keeps going on). Modi further said he doesn’t waste time over memes and social media chatter.
Separately, PM Modi also shared that he is not a foodie and eats whatever is served to him abroad. “If someone gives me a menu, I won’t be able to decide what to eat,” he said.
Furthermore, recalling the time when he used to work for Sangh, the Prime Minister revealed he sought Arun Jaitley’s help to order food at restaurants with the only condition being that it should be vegetarian.
The "Melodi" memes gained widespread popularity after a video from the G7 Summit in Italy last September showed the two leaders enjoying a light moment together.
Post the Summit, Meloni had shared a video with PM Modi, which she captioned, “Hello from the Melodi team.” Modi replied to the X post saying, “Long live India-Italy friendship!”
PM Modi’s highly-anticipated debut on the podcast covered a host of topics, including his early life, global politics, India’s global standing and more.
“The world trusts us because there is no duplicity in us. Whatever we say, we say it clearly. Even in these times of crises, we have repeatedly said that we are not neutral. I am in favour of peace, and I will support whatever are efforts are made towards it. I tell this to Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Palestine and Israel. They have faith on me, that what I am saying is right,” the Prime Minister stated.
