Prime Minister on Friday planted the Kadamb sapling that was gifted to him by King Charles III on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The sapling was planted by the Prime Minister at his official residence.
The sapling reportedly symbolises the friendship and the shared dedication to environmental sustainability between India and the UK. The gift that King Charles sent to PM Modi on his birthday was inspired by PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. The initiative encourages people to plant trees in honour of their mothers, blending respect for motherhood with environmental conservation, media reports said.
A video showing PM Modi planting the sapling at his official residence of 7 Lok Kalyan Marg was shared by the BJP on its official X handle.

Meanwhile, the British High Commission had also shared the details of the special gift to PM Modi in a post on X.
“His Majesty The King has been graciously pleased to send a Kadamb tree to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. The gesture, inspired by PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, reflects their shared commitment to environmental conservation," the High Commission wrote on X.
In a separate post on the microblogging site, the High Commission recalled PM Modi’s visit to the UK earlier in July, during which he presented King Charles with a ‘Sonoma’ tree under the same initiative.
