Prime Minister Narendra Modi met King Charles at Sandringham House in UK, the official handle of The Royal Family confirmed.
"This afternoon, The King received the Prime Minister of the Republic of India,
@NarendraModi at Sandringham House," the X post said.
"During their time together, His Majesty was given a tree to be planted this Autumn, inspired by the environmental initiative launched by the Prime Minister, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, which encourages people to plant a tree in tribute to their mothers" the X post added.
This came hours after India and UK signed the FTA earlier today. The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed today between India and the United Kingdom is poised to significantly benefit India’s renewable energy sector.
Under the deal, Indian manufacturers of solar modules, wind turbines, and other clean energy products will be able to export to the UK at zero tariffs. This opens up a valuable new market for India’s cleantech industry, especially as exports to the US have been tapering off due to the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw key incentives for solar and wind energy projects.
In addition to tariff-free access, the UK has pledged support for India’s broader clean energy ambitions. This includes cooperation on green hydrogen, civil nuclear energy, and offshore wind development. The UK will also help India mobilise climate finance through multilateral development banks, reinforcing India’s ability to meet its sustainability goals.
Together, these developments mark a significant step forward in India's clean energy journey, offering new trade opportunities while deepening climate and technology ties between the two nations.
