Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to discuss the evolving security situation.
Notably, the meeting follows back-to-back engagements between the prime minister and the military top brass.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, met PM Modi on Sunday, while Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi had briefed him on Saturday about maritime preparedness in the Arabian Sea.
The consultations come days after a high-level security meeting last Tuesday, where Prime Minister Modi gave the armed forces "complete operational freedom" to determine the mode, timing, and targets of India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which left 26 people dead.
