PM Modi meets Defence Secretary a day after consultations with armed forces’ chiefs

The consultations come days after a high-level security meeting last Tuesday, where Prime Minister Modi gave the armed forces "complete operational freedom" to determine the mode, timing, and targets of India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to discuss the evolving security situation.

Notably, the meeting follows back-to-back engagements between the prime minister and the military top brass.
