Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, visited Tamil Nadu to inaugurate several development projects in the area. He also hailed the Kargil heroes on the occasion of Kargil Diwas and the power of 'Made In India' in Operation Sindoor.
"Today, the Government of India is strongly emphasising Make in India and Mission Manufacturing. You all recently witnessed the power of Make in India during Operation Sindoor. The weapons made in India played a major role in reducing terrorist hideouts to rubble. Weapons made in India are still keeping the masters of terrorism awake at night," he said.

He also spoke about the development projects in Tamil Nadu. "In February last year, I laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation several development projects worth hundreds of crores in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. I also laid the foundation stone for the Outer Harbour Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port... Today, I am laying the foundation stone and inaugurating various projects worth Rs 4,800 crore. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Tamil Nadu for these important initiatives."
He further said, "The development of Tamil Nadu is our core commitment. Policies related to the state’s progress have consistently been prioritised. In the past decade, the Central Government has allocated over three times more funds to Tamil Nadu compared to what was provided during the previous UPA government."
He also spoke about gifting the pearls of Thoothukudi to Bill Gates. "Last year I gifted the famous pearls of Thoothukudi to Bill Gates. He really liked those pearls. The pearls from this region were once considered a symbol of India's economic power across the world," he said.
