PM Modi hails ‘excellent meeting’ with Bill Gates on tech, AI, Viksit Bharat 2047

Bills Gates also met Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, EAM S Jaishankar and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said he had an “excellent meeting” with Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates. The two had discussion on a variety of subjects including technology, innovation and sustainability.

“As always, an excellent meeting with Bill Gates. We spoke about diverse issues including tech, innovation and sustainability towards making a better future for the coming generations,” said PM Modi in a post on X.

They also discussed about India's development, the path to Viksit Bharat 2047, and exciting advancements in health, agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI), and other sectors making an impact today.

“It's impressive to see how innovation in India is driving progress locally—and globally,” Bill Gates said after meeting PM Modi.

Gates also met Union Health Minister JP Nadda when the collaboration between the government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the healthcare sector was reviewed.

The philanthropist also met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar who said they had a thoughtful conversation on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue.

"Discussed development challenges, the promise of innovation and the relevance of India," Jaishankar posted on X.

Gates also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed about Gate Foundation’s engagement with India’s innovation ecosystem to develop solutions and global public goods for progress in health and agriculture sectors.

“FM Sitharaman apprised Mr Bill Gates about India's initiatives such as the establishment of Centres of Excellence for AI in four areas i.e. agriculture, healthcare, sustainable cities and education, that are strengthening the country’s AI ecosystem and paving the way for innovation and self-reliance in this critical sector,” the Finance Ministry wrote on X.

He also had a meeting with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and they discussed leveraging AI and predictive analytics to improve service delivery in the fields of healthcare, education, agriculture, and employment generation.
