At the 14th India-France CEO Forum in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We have taken up Hydrogen mission also...By 2047, we have set a target of 100 GW of Nuclear power...This will be opened for the private sector...We are opening the civil Nuclear domain for private sectors. We are focusing on Small Modular Reactors SMR and Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR).This is the right time to come to India."

At the 14th India-France CEO Forum in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "This is a confluence of the best business minds of India and France. I welcome the report of the Summit presented just now. I see that all of you are working with the mantra of innovate, collaborate and integrate. You are not just building connections, you are also strengthening the India-France strategic partnership. It is a matter of great pleasure for me to join this Summit with President Macron. This is our sixth meeting in the last two years. Last year, President Macron was the Chief Guest at our Republic Day. This morning we co-chaired an AI Action Summit together. I heartily congratulate President Macron on this successful Summit."

India will host the next international summit on artificial intelligence after co-hosting with France in Paris on Monday and Tuesday, President Emmanuel Macron's office said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier told attendees in Paris's opulent Grand Palais that India would "be happy to host the next AI summit" on its territory.

US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday warned global leaders against striking artificial intelligence deals with "authoritarian regimes", in a thinly veiled jab against China during a summit on AI in Paris.

"Partnering with them means chaining your nation to an authoritarian master that seeks to infiltrate, dig in and seize your information infrastructure," Vance said, pointing to "cheap tech... heavily subsidised and exported by authoritarian regimes".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "India and France have worked together for years through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance to harness the power of the Sun. As we advance our partnership to AI, it is a natural progression from sustainability to innovation to shape a smarter and responsible future. At the same time, sustainable AI does not only mean using clean energy. AI models must also be efficient and sustainable in size, data needs and resources requirements. After all, the human brain manages to compose poetry and design spaceships using less power than most light bulbs."

"India has successfully built a digital public infrastructure for over 1.4 billion people at a very low cost. It is built around an open and accessible network. It has regulations and wide range of applications to modernise our economy, reform governance and transform the lives of our people."

During the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "Governance is also about ensuring access to all, especially in the Global South. It is where the capabilities are most lacking be it power, talent, or data for the financial resources. AI can help transform millions of lives by improving health, education, agriculture and so much more. It can help create a world in which the journey to sustainable development goals becomes easier and faster. To do this, we must pull together resources and talent. PM Modi said at the AI Action Summit "We must develop open source systems that enhance trust and transparency. We must build quality data centres free from biases, we must democratize technology and create people centre applications. We must address concerns related to cyber security, disinformation and deepfakes. We must also ensure that technology is rooted in local ecosystems for it to be effective and useful. Loss of jobs is AI's most feared disruption, but history has shown that work does not disappear due to technology, only its nature changes. We need to invest in skilling and re-skilling our people for an AI-driven future."

During the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "AI is developing at an unprecedented scale and speed and being adapted and deployed even faster. There is also a deep interdependence across borders. Therefore, there is a need for collective global efforts to establish governance and standards that upload our shared values, address risks, and build trust. But governance is not just about managing rifts and rivalries. It is also about promoting innovation and deploying it for the global good. So we must think deeply and discuss openly about innovation and governance..."

PM said, "I am grateful to my friend President Macron for hosting this summit and for inviting me to co-chair it. AI is already reshaping our economy, security and even our society. AI is writing the code for humanity in this century."

During the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "Let me begin with a simple experiment. If you upload your medical report to an AI app, it can explain in simple language, free of any jargon what it means for your health. But if you ask the same app to draw an image of someone writing with their left hand, the app will most likely draw someone writing with their right hand."

US Vice President JD Vance will also be in attendance at the summit. PM Modi is co-chairing the summit. The summit will focus on five major themes such as public service AI, future of work, innovation and culture, trust in AI and global governance of AI

Key topics included multilingual large language models (LLMs), federated AI compute infrastructure, and interoperable access to AI research, datasets, and high-performance computing resources.

Participants also explored opportunities to develop indigenous foundation models while ensuring a balanced governance approach to mitigate risks and encourage innovation.

A high-level roundtable on Artificial Intelligence (AI) cooperation between India and France underscored the importance of sovereign AI models, ethical AI deployment, and the need for globally accepted standards and terminologies.

Co-chaired by Amit A Shukla, Joint Secretary (Cyber Diplomacy), Ministry of External Affairs, and Henri Verdier, Ambassador for Digital Affairs, French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on deepening collaboration in AI governance, research, and technological innovation.

India and France have underscored the need for democratized access to Artificial Intelligence (AI) resources and capacity building while highlighting the importance of techno-legal frameworks for AI governance.

Speaking at a roundtable session at Paris University’s Sciences Po campus via videoconferencing, India’s Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood highlighted the need for both nations to align their policy positions and technological initiatives.

He stressed that such collaboration would not only strengthen bilateral ties but also contribute to global AI advancements by leveraging complementary expertise.

The roundtable was held on Monday on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit, which PM Modi is set to co-chair with French President Emmanuel Macron today.The India-France discussions come amid growing international efforts to regulate AI development while ensuring fair access and ethical deployment of emerging technologies.
