Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Wang, who begins a three-day visit to India on Monday, will arrive at Delhi’s IGI Airport at 4:15 pm and hold discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.

On Tuesday, he will take part in the 24th Meeting of the Special Representatives on the India–China Boundary Question, before departing on Wednesday morning.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and China’s Special Representative for the boundary talks, is also expected to meet National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Notably, THE visit comes against the backdrop of continuing efforts to resolve tensions following the 2020 eastern Ladakh standoff, which severely strained bilateral ties. While military and diplomatic negotiations have led to limited disengagement, a full resolution remains elusive.

Last year, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached a partial agreement on easing border tensions during talks in Kazan.

Recent confidence-building steps have included the resumption of the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra, India's reopening of tourist visas for Chinese nationals, as well as discussions to restore direct passenger flights, likely by September.

The announcement is likely to coincide with PM Modi’s expected visit to China later this month for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.

Before the suspension of flights, carriers such as Air India, IndiGo, Air China, China Southern, and China Eastern operated more than a dozen weekly services connecting major Indian and Chinese cities.
