PM Modi Assam visit: To inaugurate, lay foundation of Rs 18,530 cr projects; check full itinerary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for major infrastructure and industrial development projects worth more than Rs 18,530 crore in Assam on 14 September.

The projects span healthcare, urban mobility, energy, and the petrochemical sector, highlighting the government’s focus on boosting development in the region.

The day will begin in Darrang district around 11 AM, where the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for several key initiatives. These include the Darrang Medical College & Hospital and the GNM School and BSc Nursing College, which aim to strengthen medical education and healthcare delivery in the region.

He will also lay the foundation for the Guwahati Ring Road Project, intended to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance connectivity in and around the state capital.

Additionally, the Kuruwa–Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra is scheduled for inauguration, which is expected to enhance regional connectivity and foster socio-economic development. Following the ceremonies, PM Modi will address a public gathering in Darrang.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Golaghat district. Around 1:45 PM, he will inaugurate Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited’s Numaligarh Refinery Plant, a project designed to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

At 2:30 PM, he will lay the foundation stone for the Polypropylene Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), which is expected to strengthen Assam’s petrochemical sector, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to overall socio-economic development in the region.

Earlier on Saturday, after concluding his visit to Manipur, PM Modi arrived in Guwahati to participate in the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika. During the event, he hailed Hazarika as a champion of India’s unity and integrity and highlighted the government’s efforts to realise his vision of a prosperous North-East.

The Prime Minister also released a commemorative coin and stamp in Hazarika’s honour, noting the late artist’s lifelong dedication to the North-East and Assam.
