Union Minister Jitendra Singh at Rising Bharat Summit 2025. Rising Bharat Summit 2025 LIVE Updates, Day 2: With the onset of Day 2 of Rising Bharat Summit 2025, News18 is set to celebrate the power of India’s youth as the driving force in the journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the partition of the Indian subcontinent was probably one of the greatest blunders of the world.

While speaking at News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025, the minister said Lord Mountbatten had plans to break India into three parts. "The two nation theory fell short of vindicating itself because then Bangladesh wouldn’t have happened and the unrest in Balochistan wouldn’t have erupted now," he said.

The minister also said there was no public demand to partition India.

“Who asked for partition? There was no public demand. It was just the ambition of two individuals – Nehru and Jinnah,” he said. “Because you couldn’t have two PMs in a single country, so they carved out one each for each one of them. The British Empire made the best use of this ambition of theirs to divide."

On the future of Bharat, Singh said this is the best time for the youth to live in. “I wish I were a youth in this age. The unleashing of opportunities, the number of patents and research papers by Indian residents and the respect that Indians command abroad are enormous in the present time. There is a definite premium attached to being an Indian today," he said.

“Today’s youth find equal opportunities. This government trusts the youth of the country. We have provided a level-playing field. This is the best time for India’s youth," Singh reiterated.
