Parliament Session 2025 Live Updates: Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

Following a minute of silence in mark of respect to Shibu Soren, the Upper House was adjourned till 11 am tomorrow (August 5, 2025).

Congress MP Mallu Ravi says, "Adjournment motion has been given to the Secretary General of Lok Sabha for distancing 42 per cent reservation to OBC and keeping the cap up to 50 per cent... Telangana can't hold an election until these bills are passed. We will hold a protest outside Parliament today."

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, will move the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, in the Lower House of the Parliament on Monday.

On Monday, the government also listed two sports-related bills in Lok Sabha. The contentious National Sports Governance Bill, which envisages greater transparency in the functioning of sports bodies, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill are listed for discussion together on Monday.

The statutory resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur with effect from August 13, which was passed by Lok Sabha last week, has been listed for discussion in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

The government is likely to push its legislative agenda in Parliament this week ignoring Opposition protests, as the deadline for seeking extension of President's Rule in ethnic-violence hit Manipur beyond August 12 is coming close.

The issue of SIR of voter list in Bihar is being continuously raised by opposition parties. The opposition alliance INDIAA is united on this issue and is alleging that the Election Commission's exercise is aimed at removing voters sympathetic to its agenda and boosting the prospects of the BJP-led NDA.

These meetings come at a time when the process for electing the next Vice President has formally begun and tensions continue in Parliament over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the Election Commission in Bihar.
