Parliament Session 2025 Live Updates: House adjourned till 11 am tomorrow; Sports Bill to bring BCCI under its ambit tabled

Union Minister Giriraj Singh accused the opposition of perpetuating hooliganism and anarchy in the House with repeated protests, saying they have been called for a debate but are insisting on a ruckus.

On US President Donald Trump repeating his claims about bringing about a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Congress MP and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) says, "Why is he saying it so many times?"

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded explanations from the government on Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation from VP post. “I can see ‘dal mein kuch kaala hai.’ His health is fine. He used to defend RSS and BJP always. Who and what is behind his resignation should be known to the country,” he said.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh has given a Suspension of Business Notice in the Rajya Sabha under Rule 267 and demanded a discussion on the severe humanitarian crisis arising from the forceful eviction in Delhi.

On SIR (Special Intensive Revision), Congress MP Imran Masood says, "What kind of formula or technique do they have due to which they were able to sort all these things within 1 month? All these things raise suspicion. They want to deprive the tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and Muslims of their voting rights by cutting their votes... They want to take the country in a direction where 10% of people should rule the country and 90% should be slaves. We will fight till the end to save democracy..."

The second bill, the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, seeks to align India's doping laws with global standards, improve testing infrastructure, and empower the National Anti-Doping Agency with greater autonomy.

Both bills are likely to face procedural hurdles amid frequent adjournments and raucous scenes in Parliament, but the government appears determined to push through the reforms as part of its long-term sports vision.

The National Sports Governance Bill seeks to overhaul the functioning of sports federations by introducing mandatory ethical practices, better athlete welfare, stricter fair play norms, and a robust dispute resolution framework.

In a major shift, the bill proposes to bring all sports bodies, including the influential Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), under its regulatory framework.

“BCCI will come under the ambit of the sports bill and all federations will follow the new regulations,” a senior official in the Sports Ministry told ANI.

Despite ongoing disruptions in Parliament, the Centre is likely to introduce two significant bills in the Lok Sabha today -- the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandviya is expected to move both bills, marking a crucial step in India’s sports reforms ahead of its ambitious bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
