Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid on Thursday said that at least 50-60 air attacks were launched by Pakistan on over Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Pathankot, Samba, and Akhnoor, which were neutralised by India's air defence system.

"Today evening after 8:20 pm, we have witnessed around 50-60 air attacks over Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Pathankot, Samba, and Akhnoor. All these attacks have been neutralised and made ineffective. Compliments to the impregnable air defence system... There is no report of any damage despite such a massive attack by Pakistan. It appears to be a full-fledged war by Pakistan and a befitting reply needs to be given by our three services. Pakistan's days are numbered... Pakistan will soon be divided into five parts..." Vaid was quoted by ANI as saying.

The remarks by the former J&K DGP after India swiftly foiled Pakistan's attempts to hit various key Indian installations including military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur with drones and missiles.

India on Thursday night swiftly thwarted Pakistan's fresh attempts to strike military sites with drones and missiles including in Jammu and Pathankot after foiling similar bids at 15 places in northern and western regions of the country, as tensions soared between the two countries amid fears of a wider conflict.

The renewed attempts and intense shelling by the Pakistani forces on the Line of Control(LoC) and the International Border(IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan came after India on Thursday morning targeted Pakistani air defence systems at multiple cities with one in Lahore being "neutralised".

The Indian armed forces on Wednesday had carried out precise missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
