Ceasefire violations have been going on along the Line of Control for the last few days, as Pakistan continues to initiate small arms firing in areas along the LoC.
It has been reported that on the intervening night of April 28 and 29, Pakistan initiated unprovoked small arms firing along the LoC again. This happened in areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector.
Indian Army sources have said that the Army responded in a measured and effective manner to the provocation initiated by Pakistan. This has been the fifth such night when Pakistan has initiated small arms firing along the LoC.
On the intervening night of April 27 and 28, ceasefire violations happened in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch. The violations have come after India retaliated with strict measures in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including tourists, locals and foreign nationals.
Kulgam Police, along with the Army and the CRPF, had arrested two terrorist associates in Kashmir's Kulgam. They had also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, in an encounter in Bandipore, a top LeT commander named Altaf Lalli was also eliminated by the Indian Army. This came days after the Pahalgam attack.
What happened in Pahalgam?
On April 22, 26 people, including tourists, locals and foreign nationals, were gunned down by a group of armed terrorists who entered the Kashmir valley's Pahalgam. Survivors and eyewitnesses confirmed that the terrorists not only killed men but the killings happened after the terrorists allegedly confirmed the religious identities of the victims.
