Pakistan, on Saturday morning, targeted Jammu's Shambhu Temple as tensions between India and Pakistan sharply escalated. Visuals that surfaced on social media showed debris from the attempted attack inside the temple premises. India, however, was able to intercept the attack and no casualties were reported.

This came after an escalation between the two countries on the intervening night of May 9 and 10 after Pakistan launched attacks on 26 Indian cities, all of which were successfully thwarted by the Indian Armed Forces.

After the attack on 26 places, India resorted to retaliation methods and launched strikes on multiple air bases in Pakistan, thus destroying defence infrastructure in the neighbouring country.

On the morning of May 10, Pakistan continued to attack several places in Punjab and Jammu. Explosions could be heard in Poonch, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Pathankot and Rajouri. Visuals of smoke rising from the explosion site in Jammu surfaced on social media.

A complete blackout was ordered for the Jammu region on Saturday morning after several explosions were heard in the area. Similarly, a complete blackout was also ordered for Punjab's Jaladhar after drones were spotted in the skies above the city.

Visuals also surfaced from the Kupwara region of Jammu, where a residential building suffered major losses after heavy shelling by Pakistan on Friday night.

In another development, Pakistan also attempted an attack on the national capital, Delhi, by launching the Fateh missile. India intercepted the attack in Haryana's Sirsa.
