Following the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the Pakistani Army understood that India was preparing to take decisive steps, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
“Right after the Pahalgam attack, the Pakistani Army had realised that India would take major action. Pakistan even began issuing nuclear threats. However, India acted on the night of May 6 and the morning of May 7, exactly as planned, and Pakistan could do nothing,” he said.
The Prime Minister was replying to a discussion on Operation Sindoor – India’s retaliatory move after the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
The Prime Minister further stated that India's armed forces avenged April 22 attack with just 22 minutes through precision attacks conducted at terror infrastructures.
"In just 22 minutes, our Army avenged the April 22 attack with a determined objective. We've had many battles with Pakistan, but this was the first time India adopted a strategy where we reached places we had never gone before -- every corner of Pakistan where terrorist camps existed was reduced to ashes," the Prime Minister said.
He further added that Operation Sindoor makes it clear that India has decided on three points -- "One, if there is a terrorist attack on India, we will respond in our own method, on our conditions and on our time. Two, no nuclear blackmail would work now and three, we will not see terrorist-supporting governments and terror masterminds as two separate entities."
India has faced terrorist attacks in the past as well, said PM Modi, adding that back then, these terrorist masterminds lived carefreely and continued planning their future attacks. "Now, the masterminds cannot sleep after an attack. They are constantly alert, fearing that India will come after them. This is the new normal established by India," he said.
The Prime Minister further stated that Operation Sindoor continues and added that any attack on India will come at a heavy cost for the masterminds.
