In the first press conference since India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire, top brass of the Indian armed forces gave a detailed account of what exactly transpired between May 8 and May 9 and how the tris-services responded to the threat by the adversary. Air Marshal AK Bharti revealed that there were drone raids by Pakistan on two consecutive nights – May 8 and May 9.
Unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir to Naliya in Gujarat. The air force official revealed that mass drone raids were launched by Pakistan from somewhere closer to Lahore. He also added that Pakistan used commercial flights as shield to launch these drones.
“We were prepared and our air defence preparedness ensured that there was no damage on the ground or to any of the intended targets that the enemy had planned for,” Air Marshal Bharti said.
He said that Indian forces had to exercise extreme caution so that there was no harm to any civilian. Later, the Indian troops “targeted the military installations, surveillance radar sites at Lahore and Gujranwala.”
Between May 7 and 10, the Pakistan Army is reported to have suffered the loss of approximately 35 to 40 personnel due to artillery and small arms fire along the Line of Control, senor officials added during the press conference.
