A Pakistani Ranger has been apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan, PTI reported citing official sources.

This incident comes nearly two weeks after a BSF soldier was taken into custody by the Rangers amid escalating tensions between the two countries following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists.

The Pakistani Ranger is currently in custody of the BSF at their Rajasthan frontier. On April 23, a BSF soldier named Purnam Kumar Shaw was apprehended by the Pakistani Rangers along the international border in Punjab, and the Rangers have refused to return him despite strong protests from the Indian forces.

Last week, Purnam Kumar Shaw, a BSF constable, inadvertently crossed the border into Pakistan. Since his crossing last Wednesday, he has been taken into custody. There have been several rounds of talks over the past eight days aimed at securing his safe release, but so far, these discussions have not produced any results.
