US President Donald Trump, late Tuesday night, called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his condolences over the loss of lives in the heinous terror attack near Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which left at least 26 people dead and 20 others injured.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in the wee hours of Wednesday, took to microblogging site X, stating that Trump has conveyed his deepest sympathies and condemned the attack in the strongest terms.
"President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump @POTUS called PM @narendramodi and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir," Jaiswal posted on X.

"President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack. India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror," he added.
Shortly after the heinous attack, the US President had also posted a message on his Truth Social platform, calling the incident "deeply disturbing."
He wrote, “The United States stands strong with India against terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all.”
The incident took place around 3 pm on Tuesday when terrorists, dressed in Army fatigues, descended from the mountains in the Baisaran Valley area near the tourist town of Pahalgam and opened fire on civilians, many of whom were visiting the popular destination.
The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility.
PM Modi has cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India early Wednesday morning following the deadly terror attack. He has condemned the "cowardly" act, vowing justice. Soon after the attack, Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar for a security review and is expected to visit Pahalgam on Wednesday.
