Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg amid heightened tensions with Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level security meeting at his residence in New Delhi. This meeting was prompted by the tragic attack in Pahalgam last week, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
Attendees at the meeting included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Services General Anil Chauhan, Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi. The meeting took place at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in the capital.
This gathering precedes a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) scheduled for Wednesday. PM Modi had previously chaired a CCS meeting on April 23, shortly after returning from his shortened visit to Saudi Arabia.
The terrorist attack occurred in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, where assailants opened fire, killing predominantly Hindu individuals in one of the deadliest assaults in the Valley in recent years.
Additionally, earlier that day, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held a separate high-level meeting attended by the chiefs of three paramilitary forces and senior officers from two other security organizations.
