Congress leader and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor termed his five-member delegation's meeting with US Vice President JD Vance as extremely productive and one that enabled India to get a kind of feedback that Delhi had hoped for.
Tharoor-led group was one of the seven multi-party delegations India had tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community to emphasise Pakistan’s links to terrorism.
The multi-party parliamentary delegation led by the former diplomat wrapped up its visit to the US after meeting with Vice President J D Vance and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau among political and diplomatic leaders, to drive home India's strong resolve to combat terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
During his interaction with the media, Tharoor recalling the delegation's meeting with Vance said: "I must say it was a remarkable meeting. He gave us a good 20-25 minutes. It was a busy day, they just had a call with the Chinese President and they were about to go into a meeting with the German Chancellor. So, we were right in between. But we had a very good conversation..."
"We left feeling that we could not have had a better meeting. We were able to make every single one of the points we wanted to make. I spoke for the delegation and in turn we got back exactly the kind of feedback we would have wanted. So, I think we left very happy," added the Congressman reflecting upon the nature of engagement between senior officials of US and India.
