Former Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on Monday said that now that Indians are not welcome in silicon valley, we should demonstrate that these Indians are welcome in India for disruptions.
He said that the biggest opportunity for India is travel and tourism as India is flying close to 80 million planes. Government should be aggressive and push for foreign tourism to make India a global destination for the rich and the famous in the world, he said.
"Trump has given India the opportunity to become far more productive and competitive and let us not lose this opportunity," he said while speaking at Network18's Reforms Reloaded summit in New Delhi
"When the opportunity for global south and other nations came to benefit from globalisation, you kill WTO and you remove differentiation between developed and least developed and then you push for bringing manufacturing back to the US. Therefore India needs to push for manufacturing in a big way. For that we need to bring down logistics costs and bring down interest rates. The interest rates must come down," he added.
Kant further said that private sectors' job is to create wealth and the goal of Viksit Bharat needs a scorching pace of growth.
"If India has to achieve that goal it needs bureaucrats to dismiss rules and regulations and do privatisation and push tourism," Kant said.
He also called for join ventures of Indian companies with Chinese companies so that they manufacture in India.
