A five-year-old girl died and two men were critically injured after a speeding BMW car collided with their scooter late Saturday night in Noida’s Sector 20. The trio was on their way to a hospital when the incident occurred, according to the police.
The victim, Aayat, had fallen ill; hence, her father, Gul Mohammad, and uncle, Raja, both residents of Sadarpur in Sector 45, rushed her to the Post Graduate Institute of Child Health in Sector 30. Tragically, their journey was cut short when a BMW struck their two-wheeler en route.
The impact of the crash was so severe that Aayat died on the spot. Both men suffered serious injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Police have arrested two men in connection with the accident.
Yash Sharma, a resident of Sector 37, was allegedly driving the BMW, with Abhishek Rawat, a restaurant owner from Sector 70, in the passenger seat. Both are students, police added. The car has been seized and an investigation is underway.
Visuals from the Sector 20 police station show extensive damage to the BMW and the mangled remains of the scooter, pointing to the intensity of the collision.
“The child died on the spot, and the condition of the two men is critical. The accused have been arrested and the vehicle has been impounded,” said a senior police official.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and analysing technical evidence to piece together how the crash unfolded.
