The Indian economy is "on a roll," and no country in the world can halt its momentum, expressing confidence that India will become the third-largest economy globally by 2028, noted Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday.
Speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025 in New Delhi at the Bharat Mandapam, Scindia remarked, “The Indian economy is on a roll. No country in the world can stop India’s growth story now.”
The minister added that he believes that India will surpass Germany and Japan by 2028 and become a $5 trillion economy by 2028 and a $6 trillion economy by 2030.
Underlining the potential of the nation’s demographic dividend, the Union Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region added, that the growing economy of the northeastern states has now become the engine pulling India's economy.
He added that the economies of all northeastern states are growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12-15 percent must faster than the CAGR growth rate of India's economy of 6.5-7 percent.
Also sharing his views on leadership and public service, Scindia offered a message for the youth, “If India’s youth want power and control, then public service is not the avenue for you.”
He stated that serving the people requires commitment, humility, and purpose beyond personal ambition.
Organised as a two-day event, the Rising Bharat Summit 2025 brings together top policymakers, industry leaders, and thought influencers to deliberate on India’s global aspirations and developmental milestones.
This year’s edition focuses on themes such as innovation, infrastructure, economic resilience, and India’s role on the world stage.
