The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will file a charge sheet on Monday in the Pahalgam terror attack case, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists, officials said.
Investigations by the NIA revealed the direct involvement of three terrorists in the April 22 attack. The agency will present the charge sheet before a NIA special court in Jammu.
In June, two men, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Pahalgam, were arrested for harboring the terrorists, who were later killed by security forces in a July 28 encounter near Srinagar, code-named Operation Mahadev. The duo identified the attackers as Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and had provided them with food, shelter, and logistical support.
The three LeT operatives had been hiding in the Dachigam-Harwan forest belt since the attack.
Retaliating to the Pahalgam attack, the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on May 7 at terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor. The strikes targeted nine sites, including the headquarters and training centres of LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which were reportedly used to plan and direct attacks against India.
