The NDA on Monday announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Tamil Nadu  Assembly election, according to ANI.

Under the pact, the BJP will contest 27 seats, the Pattali Makkal Katchi 18 seats, and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam 11 seats. In 2021, the BJP contested 20 seats in the state.

Palaniswami said that talks within the alliance went smoothly and confirmed that the numbers have been officially finalised. He added that discussions with other parties are still underway and their seat allocations will be announced soon.

The decision was taken in the presence of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami,  BJP Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal, state BJP president Nainar Nagenthran and PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss among others at the AIADMK headquarters.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the seat-sharing talks, Goyal said the NDA was confident of forming the government in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. “NDA is going to sweep the elections and give a good government to the people of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu."

He asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu want a government that will bring development and change for the farmers, for the fishermen, for the MSMEs.

"Tamil Nadu today is ready for an NDA government, a strong national democratic alliance under the guidance and visionary leadership of PM Modi, who yesterday crossed the record and became the longest serving head of government in the history of India. The people of Tamil Nadu want a government led by the future Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami, a government which will bring development for the farmers, for the fishermen, for the MSMEs, for industry, provide jobs to our young men and women, give opportunity for startups to innovate, and provide quality healthcare and quality education, will give houses for the poor, will make sure that everybody gets opportunity in life to prosper and work towards a developed Tamil Nadu," he said.

In Tamil Nadu, the upcoming election is shaping up as a straight fight between two main alliances. One is the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which brings together the Congress, DMDK, and several other partners. The opposing camp is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and supported by allies including the BJP and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
