External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Friday told Afghanistan's foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi that India will reopen its embassy in Kabul in a move that will restore full diplomatic ties with the Taliban regime.

Afghan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said that India has always stood with Afghan people and has assisted them in several areas. "Similarly, over the past four years, and particularly during the earthquakes, India was the first country to respond. Afghanistan looks at India as a close friend. We want a relationship based on mutual respect and people-to-people ties," he said.

India is fully committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Afghanistan, said External Affairs S Jaishankar during meeting with Afghan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. An Air India flight operation from Vienna to Delhi was diverted to Dubai over a suspected technical issue. “AI-154 operating from Vienna to New Delhi on 9th October was diverted to Dubai to a suspected technical issue. The aircraft landed safely at Dubai and underwent necessary checks. All passengers were kept informed of the delay, provided refreshments and the flight departed at 08:45 hrs IST," an Air India spokesperson said.
