The Mumbai Police are set to file a case two days after Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad slapped a canteen staffer, accusing him of serving stale food. However, it remains unclear whether the charges by the Mumbai Police will be strict enough to have the politician arrested.

The news of a possible police action on Gaikwad comes 2 days after he was seen punching a man on video, following which, he proudly admitted to the assault during a live interview with NDTV. He also reportedly made further threats, NDTV reported. As NDTV said, Gaikwad also walked out of an interview when questioned about what gives him the right to hit a person like that.

According to NDTV, Gaikwad spoke to the channel again on Thursday and was completely unapologetic about what he had done. He also threatened to commit further physical assault if provoked.

The video of the assault also showed Gaikwad slapping and punching the canteen staffer, while accusing him of serving stale food. The video has forced Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde to slam Gaikwad - which seemingly had no affect on him.

"I don't need anyone's support. I do what I do based on my strength and capabilities ('apne bal bute par'). I don't care (whether anyone is standing with me)," Gaikwad said, as reported by NDTV.
