Imagine a giant ferris wheel along the sprawing Mumbai skyline similar to the iconic London Eye? It could soon turn into a reality with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) giving greenlight to the "Mumbai Eye" project in the city in its annual budget.

The BMC announced that the "Mumbai Eye" will be built at a suitable location in Mumbai under the PPP (public-private partnership) model.

The project has been in the pipeline for several years but has faced multiple hurdles.

Mumbai is inspired by the London Eye, which is the iconic landmark of the city. The idea was first proposed by Shiv Sena in 2008. The ferris wheel will give visitors a bird's eye view of the city.

In 2022, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had proposed a plan to construct the Mumbai Eye at the Bandra Reclamation promenade. However, the plan was later scrapped after opposition from locals.
