Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case: CCTV footage shows Sena leader's son getting into Mercedes before BMW crash

The CCTV showing Mihir Shah leaving a pub in a Mercedes car (not the BMW that was involved in the crash) with four of his friends has gone viral. Mihir can be seen getting into Mercedes, but he doesn't get behind the wheel.

Who was driving the BMW car that fatally knocked down a 45-year-old woman on Sunday morning? The police are examining CCTV footage to confirm that Shinde Sena leader's son Mihir Shah(24) was driving at the time of the accident.

Police have accessed a CCTV footage in which he is seen getting into a car with his friends outside a Juhu bar. Mihir along with friends had visited the bar around 11 pm on Saturday. He left the place around 1.30 am.

The CCTV showing Mihir Shah leaving a pub in a Mercedes car (not the BMW that was involved in the crash) with four of his friends has gone viral. Though Mihir can be seen getting into Mercedes, he doesn't get behind the wheel.

The cops said he changed the car later and was driving the BMW while his driver was in the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police on Monday have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Mihir who was allegedly driving the BMW car.

The speeding BMW hit a scooter in Worli early Sunday morning, killing the woman who was riding pillion with her husband. After the accident, the car was abandoned at Kala Nagar, Bandra (east), about 10 km from the accident spot, around 7am. Mihir was allegedly drunk at that time.

Kaveri Nakhwa (45) was going with her husband Pradip on the arterial Annie Besant Road when the accident happened around 5.30 am, the official said.

 

The police have questioned the Shah family’s chauffeur, Rajrishri Bidawat. Mihir and the chauffeur had left from the Shah’s Borivali home around midnight on a long drive. According to sources in police, at Marine Drive, Mihir had asked the chauffeur to let him drive the car.

The police, accordind to media reports, are ascertaining if Mihir had tried to contact his father after the accident. The father, who was questioned by the police, said that he was unaware of his son’s whereabouts.

Mihir is currently absconding and his mother and two sisters are also not at home.
