In an extremely brutal case of minor rape that has come to light, a 5-year-old girl sustained internal injuries in her private parts and is battling for her life.

Doctors who performed emergency surgery revealed that there were multiple bite marks, cuts and scratches in the girl's private parts. According to reports, she has received 28 stitches in her private parts and is being monitored at Gwalior's Kamala Raja Hospital ICU.

The minor accused, who is a neighbour of the child in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri, has been arrested and is being tried as a juvenile. As per police reports, the accused lured the girl from the rooftop of her home to an abandoned house in the neighbourhood.

According to the police, the 17-year-old accused even slammed the girl's head against a wall several times and then brutalised her. He was apparently drunk at the time of the incident.

The 5-year-old was found unconscious and covered in blood on the terrace of the abandoned house by her parents on February 23. Upon regaining consciousness, she told her parents that the accused took her in his lap and did 'terrible things'.

The child's family has demanded death sentence for the accused. "He should be shot openly on the road," her mother said.

The incident has led to a protest as members of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress as well as local residents reached the Shivpuri Collectorate on Monday. The leaders have submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding death penalty for the accused.
