An FIR that has been filed in the gang rape case that has surfaced from the campus of the South Asian University in Delhi, shows distressing details about what unfolded on the fateful night of the incident.
The survivor has told police about what she went through and what happened leading up to the day of the gang-rape - including blackmail with morphed pictures of the victim and emails that threatened her to visit certain locations on the university campus.
The survivor alleged that she received an email at first and that the sender allegedly demanded she meet near the guest house of the campus in Maidan Garhi at 11.27 pm on Saturday. However, she did not comply with the request, a news report by Hindustan Times said.
The report said that the next day, she got another email, allegedly written in obscene language, asking that she come outside the hostel block. The victim showed the mail to her friends, who then checked the spots at the mentioned time but found no one there.
On Sunday, the woman received morphed obscene photographs of herself via WhatsApp and Telegram. She alleged that the pictures had been created using her profile picture. The sender threatened that if she did not go to Gate number 3, the pictures would be circulated amongst college students.
After this, the victim took a less crowded route toward the university’s convocation centre and said that after a short while, two men arrived and they, with the help of the guard and a middle-aged man, forced her to an empty room near the convocation centre, where she was sexually assaulted.
She alleged that one of them also forced a pill inside her mouth, which she spat. She later identified the pill as an abortion pill. "Then he put his foot on my thigh, someone was holding my eyes, and someone came near my ear and was saying, I will kill your child, don't worry about him,” PTI quoted the FIR.
The assailants then fled when they heard people exiting the nearby mess, she added, saying that she was traumatised and disoriented after the incident and was later found by her friends.
According to her, the college authorities were of little help as they engaged in blaming the female students. The hostel in-charge allegedly advised the victim to “take bath and change clothes,” she alleged, according to media reports.
The administration was not taking (me) seriously and not allowing (me) to involve any outsider. I wanted to video call my mother and show her the bruises but the hostel-in-charge and a guard were covering me,” she alleged.
