The IMD said heavy rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Madhya Pradesh between July 1 and July 5.

Central India and northwestern regions including Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab are likely to witness heavy rainfall in different parts of the states, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a weather update on July 1.

Tourist in hill states should exercise caution as the weather department said that Uttarakhand is set to experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 2, while Himachal Pradesh will see very heavy rainfall on July 1 and July 2.

Extremely heavy rainfall is also very likely in the eastern front of the country, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Assam, the met department predicted.

Meanwhile, IMD said a cyclonic circulation is present over north Gujarat in lower tropospheric levels that could lead to widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm and lighting over Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat. In various parts of Maharashtra, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected between July 2 and July 5, the IMD said.

Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, will see a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain throughout the week. The maximum temperature in this week hover around 33 degree Celsius.

There isn’t going to be any major change in maximum temperature over most parts of the country, IMD said, adding that widespread to widespread rainfall is likely across the nation.
