Miscreants kill man in Nagpur after confronting for harassing his daughter

A man was brutally killed by a group of miscreants after he confronted them for repeatedly harassing his daughter in Nagpur city on Wednesday. The victim, Naresh Walde (53), a painter by profession, was killed in broad daylight in Jatarodi area under the jurisdiction of Imamwada Police Station.

According to the police officials, Naresh Walde’s daughter faced regular harassment from a local troublemaker during her commutes. The situation intensified a few days ago when Naresh confronted the accused, resulting in a heated argument where the accused allegedly threatened Naresh's life.

On Wednesday afternoon, while Naresh was on his duty, he received a call from an unknown number instructing him to go to Jatatarodi. Upon his arrival on his motorcycle, Naresh saw the accused waiting for him along with his group, with sharp weapons. The group launched a brutal attack, fatally stabbing Naresh before fleeing the scene.

Naresh Walde resided in the Imamwada area with his elderly mother and three daughters. The harassment of his daughters had led to ongoing disputes with the accused. Just days before the murder, unidentified individuals had thrown stones at Naresh’s home at night, an incident he reported to the Imamwada police station.

Following the murder, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. The City Crime Branch Unit 4 swung into action, arresting three suspects in connection with the killing.

Inspector Rahul Shire confirmed that a case has been filed under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.

"A total of three individuals have been arrested so far," Inspector Shire told India Today, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify any additional suspects and clarify the motive behind the crime.
