In a shocking case from Maharashtra’s Washim district, a man allegedly murdered his two-year-old twin daughters after a domestic dispute with his wife and later surrendered before the police.

The accused, identified as Rahul Chavan, had been travelling with his wife and their daughters when an argument broke out between the couple. Officials said that as soon as the woman left for her parents' home during the argument, the man took his two-year-old twin daughters to a forested area, slit their throats, and then walked up to a police station to confess to filicide.

Police said Chavan continued the journey alone with the children after his wife got off. Consumed by anger, he allegedly drove to a forested area in Ancharwadi, located in Buldhana district, where he killed the girls by slitting their throats.

After committing the murders, Chavan went straight to the Washim police station and turned himself in, reportedly admitting to murdering his daughters. Reports said that a police team immediately rushed to the spot that he mentioned and found the bodies of the twin girls.

Officials who are involved in the investigation revealed that the remains appeared partially burnt. This led to suspicions that Chavan might have tried to destroy evidence by setting them on fire after the killings.

Officers said that preliminary findings suggest the bodies were partially burnt. This raised suspicion that Chavan may have attempted to destroy evidence by setting them on fire after the murder.

Senior officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Manisha Kadam, visited the crime scene and supervised the preliminary investigation in the case.

Forensic experts have been called in to collect samples, while a post-mortem examination is underway to confirm the exact cause of death and whether the children were burnt posthumously. Police said further action would follow based on forensic and autopsy results.
