Maharashtra Budget 2025: 3rd airport in Mumbai, key metro link among major announcements

Maharashtra deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar on Monday presented the first full Budget of the Mahayuti 2.0 government.

In his speech, Ajit Pawar—who is presenting his 11th Budget—said that the New Industrial Policy in the state is expected to attract Rs 20 lakh crore in investments and create 50 lakh jobs.

Here are the key announcements made by Ajit Pawar in Maharashtra Budget 2025-26:

* Motor tax increased by 1%, which is currently levied at 7 per cent to 9 per cent on individual-owned non-transport four-wheeler CNG and LPG vehicles depending on the vehicle type and price.

* The government has announced an Amnesty Scheme - ‘Maharashtra Settlement of Arrears of Tax, Interest, Penalty or late Fee (Payable by the Public Sector Undertaking Companies) Act, 2025’, will be in force from the date of commencement of the Act till December 31, 2025.

* The increased payout under the Ladki Bahin Yojana will not be anytime soon, CM Devendra Fadnavis said.

* Third airport for Mumbai proposed near Vadhvan port, Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train station will be near port. Vadhvan Port in Palghar to be operational by 2030.

* Projects worth Rs 64,000 crore to reduce traffic congestion in Mumbai.

* Night landing facility to be introduced at Shirdi airport soon.

* Metro to link Mumbai''s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with Navi Mumbai International Airport

* Domestic flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport from next month. Almost 85% work is done and trials successfully conducted.

* Financial incentives will be given for boat operators for safe travel from Gateway of India to Elephanta.

* Rs 36,000 crore will be allocated for the Ladki Bahin scheme in 2025-26

* Proposal of Rs 9,897 crore for the second phase of Pune Metro
