Ahead of the final sacred bath coinciding with the Maha Shivratri at Maha Kumbh on February 26, Prayagraj is set to enforce strict traffic restrictions on Tuesday.
Vehicle entry will be prohibited at the Kumbh Mela premises from 4 pm on Tuesday, February 25, while restrictions across Prayagraj city will begin at 6 pm to manage the expected large gathering of devotees in the Sangam city.
Though the vehicles carrying essential goods such as milk, vegetables, medicines, and fuel will be allowed to operate. Emergency services and government personnel, including doctors, police officers, and administrative staff, will also have unrestricted movement.
As per the Times of India report, Mela Police have advised worshippers to take ritual baths at designated ghats based on their entry routes.
Devotees arriving from the Dakshini Jhunsi route should use Arail Ghat, while those from the Uttari Jhunsi route have been directed to Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat.
Entrants through Pande Kshetra should proceed to Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat, while those coming via the Arail sector must use Arail Ghat.
The devotees have been urged to avoid unnecessary movement. They have also been advised to perform prayers at nearby temples to prevent overcrowding at major pilgrimage sites.
Pontoon bridges will be regulated based on density, and devotees have been advised to follow all prescribed safety measures. The cops have urged cooperation from the public.
The Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 63 crore devotees and tourists have attended the event so far.
