Dressed in a deep orange full-sleeve jersey, blue lowers, and a rudraksh necklace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, amid the chanting of mantras. The Prime Minister arrived at around 11:30 am for the sacred ritual, marking his participation in the world’s largest spiritual gathering, which attracts millions of devotees annually.
Taking to microblogging site X, the Prime Minister wrote, "Blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have taken part in it, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion. May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony".

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi also offered prayers to Maa Ganga at the Sangam. The visit holds special significance, coinciding with Magh Ashtami, a day of spiritual importance in the Hindu calendar.
The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, which started on Paush Purnima (January 13), will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26. Security measures have been significantly heightened ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, with areas around the Sangam declared high-security zones. Forces, including the National Security Guard (NSG), police, and other personnel, have been deployed to ensure the safety of both the Prime Minister and the public.
The Prime Minister took a boat ride from Arail Ghat to the Triveni Sangam, marking another chapter in his effort to promote India's spiritual heritage.
The Maha Kumbh Mela continues to be one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, with over 38 crore pilgrims visiting the event so far. PM Modi's visit is in line with his broader efforts to enhance infrastructure at pilgrimage sites, having inaugurated numerous development projects in Prayagraj worth Rs 5,500 crore in December 2024.
This marks his second visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela, following his previous participation in 2019, where he paid tribute to sanitation workers by washing their feet, further emphasizing his commitment to preserving and promoting India's cultural and spiritual legacy.
