Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. The event, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26.
Taking to microblogging site X on Sunday evening, Shah had expressed his excitement, calling the Maha Kumbh a "unique symbol of the continuous flow of Sanatan culture." He added, "The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony. I am eager to take a dip at Sangam and receive blessings from saints at this great festival of unity and integrity in the holy city of Prayagraj."
Shah is scheduled to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, and meet several revered saints, including the Shankaracharyas of Puri and Dwarka.
The Home Minister also described the Maha Kumbh as a grand gathering of Sanatan Dharma, which spreads the message of equality and harmony to the world. He noted that it is not only a pilgrimage site but also a confluence of India’s diversity, faith, and knowledge traditions.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, attracts millions of pilgrims, including saints, seers, and visitors from across the globe, who come to Prayagraj to take part in the holy rituals and seek spiritual enlightenment.
