An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck the Bay of Bengal in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The tremor occurred at 06:10 am at a depth of 91 km, with its epicenter located at latitude 19.52°N and longitude 88.55°E.
Mild tremors were felt in parts of West Bengal and Odisha, though no immediate reports of damage or casualties have surfaced.
