Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday once again accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and falsehoods during the ongoing war in West Asia, and urged the party to listen to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s earlier warning about the ramifications of wars on the country.
After inaugurating several development initiatives in poll-bound Assam, the PM said: “While the BJP-led NDA government is working towards supporting farmers and achieving self-reliance for the country, the Congress party has once again demonstrated a lack of commitment to the nation. Even in times of crisis caused by war, Congress remains focused on spreading misinformation and falsehoods."
“I urge members of Congress to listen to Pandit Nehru’s August 15th speech from the Red Fort – you may find it enlightening. Pandit Nehru once remarked that the wars in South and North Korea were contributing to inflation in our country. Now think how far North and South Korea are located, yet he linked that conflict to inflation in India. Today, the Congress is working to mislead the country," he added.
Moving on to poll dynamics pertaining to the state, he said NDA has been constantly trying to implement the promises it made in the Bodoland Accords.
"Be it according associate official language status to Bodo language or special package of Rs 1,500 crores for development of Bodoland, NDA government has fulfilled many more promises. A medical college in operational in Kokrajhar, another is being constructed in Tamulpur, while nearly 10,000 youths who had given up weapons are being re-integrated to the mainstream of the society," reminded the PM.
