Kolkata woman alleges sexual assault at nightclub, names Park Street gang rape convict in FIR

A woman in Kolkata has alleged that she was assaulted and sexually abused at a 5-star hotel naming Nasir Khan, who was previously convicted in the 2012 Park Street gang rape case as one of the accused.

According to the FIR, the woman said that alleged incident happened in the early hours of Sunday while she was at the nightclub with her husband, brother and friends for a party, reported The Indian Express.

She alleged that she was molested, assaulted and attacked with beer bottle between 4 am and 5 am on October 26.

Citing police sources, CNN-News18 reported that the woman came with her family to the restaurant for a business meeting and they were sitting at the same table as the accused.

An argument reportedly broke out between them, with the woman eventually lodging a complaint at the South Police Station against Nasir Khan and Junaid Khan.

In her complaint, she identified a group naming Nasir Khan, Junaid Khan, and their associates. It is reported that she claimed that Nasir Khan was among those who attacked her and tried to touch her inappropriately.

Nasir Khan had served a jail term in the 2012 Park Street gang rape case before being released in 2020. Junaid Khan is a nephew of Nasir Khan and both are residents of Park Street, reported The Indian Express.

The report citing police sources said that the parties involved were known to each other a probe in the entire incident is underway.

The police is also reportedly investigating whether the person who has been named as accused was Nasir Khan.

According to India Today, the woman also accused another group of attacking her and her family members with glass bottles. It is also reported that the group later called another 20 people to join the attack against them.

She reportedly called the police on emergency helpline, however, they took shelter inside the restaurant's liquor room as the doors were locked.

"(The accused) blocked all the doors. Then a few boys started pushing me and touching me in a very bad way… I have attached the medical report and you can find all the attacking videos as CCTV of the club premises. I therefore request you to register my complaint and take immediate action… Junaid Khan and Nasir Khan are criminals who were involved in the Park Street rape. They are threatening to kill me over the phone," she as been quoted to say in her complaint, according to The Indian Express.

“We immediately lodged an FIR soon after getting the complaint from the lady. During the investigation, our team gathered CCTV footage from the club which is being examined. The statement of the victim has also been recorded. Investigation is underway, we are probing every aspect with priority,” Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Mukesh Kumar has been quoted as saying by India Today.

The FIR is the case had been registered at Bidhannagar South Police Station under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 117(2), 351(2), 3(5), and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, no arrests have been made yet.

The sections deal with voluntarily causing hurt, criminal force and assault and solitary confinement of the BNS.

According to The Indian Express, the woman complained: "While happily partying at my table in the club, a few people started fighting with us. Junaid Khan, Nasir Khan and their group of friends physically assaulted and attempted to sexually abuse me…"

She further said, "When my brother tried to protect (me), they threw glass and bottles at him. Then we tried to run away from the hotel to save ourselves but Junaid Khan called more people to the hotel, around 20 boys, and started attacking us again.”
