Karnataka minister MB Patil on July 8 said that 'Kalaloka' stall, bringing together Karnataka's iconic and GI-tagged products under one roof, will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Siddaramiah in September at Kempegowda International Airport's Terminal-2.
"The aesthetically designed stall will showcase and sell six products representing Karnataka’s heritage, along with 28 Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products," the Minister for Large and Medium Industries said.
Several products including coffee, Mysuru silk, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited's (KSDL) sandal soap, Lidkar leather products, handicrafts, and handwoven goods traditionally associated with Karnataka will be featured. Additionally, 28 other GI-tagged products - including the famed Channapatna toys - will also be available.
Patil said that international-standard packaging, design, and branding will be ensured to attract global consumers.
"A second Kalaloka stall is also being planned for the International Lounge, with tenders to be invited shortly. The first outlet, scheduled to open in September, will span 130 square metres. Airport authorities have provided the space at a 50% concession on rent," said Patil.
He chaired a progress review meeting with senior officials of the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and the Department of Industries and Commerce.
