As per available trends, the Delhi chief minister is behind Ramesh Bidhuri of BJP by a margin of 1,149 votes after completion of first round of trailing

"Kejriwal won twice because he distributed freebies and made false promises. But in the last 10 years, he was exposed. If the people of Kalkaji want development, they will give a send-off to Atishi. This lead (from Kalkaji) is the blessing of people of Kalkaji. Kejriwal has done no work in Delhi in the last 10 years. I believe áapda is going and BJP will come to power...We are here to serve the public, not for any position like CM," he told reporters. Atishi is currently trailing Bidhuria, as per trends.

Though EC trends are yet to emerge, counting trends on TV channels show CM Atishi behind BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji. The trend has held for the last 1 hour.

First trends based on postal ballot counting show Atishi trailing BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji

The counting of votes for the 70-member Delhi assembly is under way. First trends for the Kalkaji seat will be out shortly

Speaking to reporters, Lamba said that people of Kalkaji don't like Ramesh Bidhuri and are angry due to his language. "I believe that Arvind Kejriwal is going to lose his seat. Atishi also has to face immense anti-incumbency as she didn't work even after being the CM," she said.

In the 2020 Delhi elections, Atishi won the Kalkaji constituency by defeating BJP's Dharambir. She secured 51.71% of the votes in the constituency.

The counting of votes will begin sharply at 8am. Initial trends will be based on postal ballot votes.

According to Pradeep Gupta of Axis My India, Aam Aadmi Party holds an edge in the Kalkaji constituency. However, the final picture will only be clear after the initial trends.

Atishi is contesting from Kalkaji for the second time and is one of AAP’s most prominent leaders. She won the seat in 2020 with nearly 56,000 votes and a margin exceeding 11,000. Her growing stature within the party has been evident, particularly after her induction into the cabinet as AAP’s first woman minister.

Congress has not won a single seat in Delhi since 2015. Alka Lamba, who previously held the seat from 1998 to 2013, is aiming for a comeback. Lamba’s political journey has seen multiple shifts—she was with the Congress from 1994 to 2014 before joining AAP and winning from Chandni Chowk in 2015.

The BJP has not won the Kalkaji seat since 1993 but is relying on Bidhuri’s proven electoral record to change that. A three-time MLA from Tughlakabad, Bidhuri emerged victorious in 2003, 2008, and 2013, despite the BJP’s broader challenges in Delhi.
