Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the birthday celebrations of Vivek, son of US Vice-President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Chilukuri Vance, on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in France. The meeting underscored the warmth between the two leaders and their families, with PM Modi presenting gifts to the Vance children and sharing a lighthearted moment during the gathering.
PM Modi took to microblogging site X to express his gratitude, “Had a wonderful meeting with US VP JD Vance and his family. We had a great conversation on various subjects. Delighted to join them in celebrating the joyous birthday of their son, Vivek!”

JD Vance responded by thanking PM Modi for his kindness and for the thoughtful gifts his children received. “Prime Minister Modi was gracious and kind, and our kids really enjoyed the gifts. I'm grateful to him for the wonderful conversation,” Vance wrote on X.

The White House released a statement noting that PM Modi and Vice-President Vance discussed key areas of cooperation, including US support for India’s energy diversification efforts through investments in clean and reliable American nuclear technology. The leaders, along with Usha Vance, engaged in discussions over coffee, focusing on mutual interests and bilateral ties.
DD News shared a video capturing the interaction, showing PM Modi, Vance, and Usha Vance engaged in conversation alongside senior officials. Later, PM Modi took to microblogging site X, sharing photographs from the event, featuring himself with the Vance family, including sons Vivek and Ewan. Vance’s daughter, Mirabel, was not seen in the images.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi and VP Vance participated in the AI Action Summit, hosted by France. The summit focused on the role of artificial intelligence in shaping global economies and innovation.
Vance, in his address, welcomed Modi’s positive stance on AI, saying, “I appreciate PM Modi’s point. AI will facilitate and make people more productive. It is not going to replace human beings; it will never replace human beings.”
PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis on the sidelines of the summit. In a social media post, PM Modi stated, “Had a very productive meeting with the President of Estonia, Alar Karis. India’s ties with Estonia are growing remarkably over the years. We discussed ways to boost ties in areas like trade, technology, culture, and more.” The Prime Minister invited Estonian companies to explore investment opportunities in India, particularly under initiatives like Digital India.
During the AI Action Summit, which PM Modi co-chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister highlighted a shared global vision on AI development. “The discussions have clearly brought out that there is unity in vision and unity in purpose across stakeholders,” he said, extending an invitation for India to host the next summit.
Following his engagements in France, Modi will travel to the United States on Wednesday for a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, marking another key diplomatic engagement in his overseas tour.
