Kashmiri Hindus in the US are demanding greater accountability and global awareness following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.

The diaspora members said the attack on April 22, which occurred during the visit of US Vice President JD Vance to India, has raised serious concerns about lapses in security preparedness and persistent threats to minority communities in Kashmir.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

"A few days back, some incident (Pahalgam terrorist attack) took place; it was a kind of incident even Asuras won't do, but all the limits were crossed. I think everyone should face them in their capacity. The military should act as they do, and common people should support the military. I think Adi Shankaracharya's principles are enough to learn the ways. We will offer prayers to pay tribute (to those who lost their lives in the attack)," said a priest at Shri Adi Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar.

The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim protection to a Srinagar-based family that was facing the risk of being deported from India to Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, reported Bar and Bench.

Tensions rose between India and Pakistan and the Indian government decided to suspend visa services to Pakistani nationals. All Pakistani nationals were directed to leave India by April 27.

The family before the top court, however, alleged that they were arrested despite being Indian nationals who held government identification, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and voter ID. The family comprised of a married couple and their four children.

Navi Mumbai resident Subodh Patil, who was injured in the Pahalgam terror attack and was subsequently treated in Kashmir, has returned home to a hearty welcome by neighbours and locals.

The 60-year-old man sustained a bullet injury to his neck when terrorists fired indiscriminately at tourists in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on April 22. Patil was at a tea stall at the time.

Patil reached his home at Royal Heights Apartments in the Kamothe area along with his wife on Thursday night, said an official. The couple was welcomed by their neighbours, relatives and locals in the area, he said.

Former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto has said that his country's support to terror groups “is not a secret”, echoing recent remarks by defence minister Khawaja Asif that Islamabad has been doing this "dirty work" for the West for decades.

In an interview to Sky News, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader said that Pakistan has suffered the consequences of supporting terrorist organisations and has "learned its lessons".

We have gone through wave after wave of extremism. But as a result of what we suffered, we also learned our lessons. Pakistan has opened the Attari-Wagah border gate and agreed to take back its citizens who are still in India, as per reports.

As many as 70 Pakistani nationals were stranded at the border on Thursday after it was shut earlier as per the deadline. The Centre issued the 'Leave India' notice to Pakistani nationals after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by terrorists in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.

The deadline for exiting India for those holding SAARC visas was April 26. For those carrying medical visas, the deadline was April 29.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got the full support from the Trump administration, adding that they are in constant communication with the governments of India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.

She said that the US is closely monitoring the situation. "We are monitoring closely. Yesterday, the Secretary (Marco Rubio) spoke with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif. Ten days after the horrific terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 dead, the perpetrators remain on the run. At least two Pakistani nationals and one resident of south Kashmir, who carried out the attack, along with a fourth one, who was hiding nearby to provide backup, are said to remain active and hidden in South Kashmir, as per National Investigation Agency (NIA) sources as quoted by NDTV and India Today.

Reports quoted NIA sources saying that the attackers are still in South Kashmir, particularly in the upper reaches of Anantnag, and have provisions to sustain themselves. BJP leader Ravinder Raina on Friday said Army, along with police, will foil every conspiracy and evil intention of Pakistan even as the neighbouring nation continued to violate ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for the 8th consecutive day. Raina said he visited villages in the border areas of Jammu & Kashmir which are adjacent to the LoC.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will on Friday evening deliberate on the situation arising out of the Pahalgam terror attack.

According to sources, the Congress' highest decision-making body is likely to pass resolutions seeking concrete action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack and for allocating funds to get the caste census conducted soon as part of the national census exercise.

"The world is facing a dangerous thing, intolerance. Pakistan was founded, and it would have been good if the Muslims had remained together peacefully. However, after the formation of Pakistan, tensions arose between those who speak Bangla and Urdu... Pakistan is still facing that intolerance.
