A terrorist was killed while an Indian Army personnel sustained injuries during an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

The security forces launched a search operation in the Gudar forest area following information about the presence of terrorists there, according to officials cited by PTI.

They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened firing at the security forces' positions.

Last month, two Army soldiers were killed in action during a close combat with terrorists in the Kulgam district.

"Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families," Army's 15 Corps headquarters wrote on X.
