A 13-year-old girl died on Friday after reportedly jumping from the roof of her school building in Maharashtra’s Jalna district, sending shockwaves through the community. The incident took place between 7:30 and 8:00 am, triggering panic among students, staff, and nearby residents, reported ANI.

Sadar Police Inspector Sandeep Bharti said officers were alerted around 8:00 am and rushed to the spot. The Class 7 student was found critically injured and was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she was declared dead.

Inspector Bharti said the investigation is at an early stage, and multiple possibilities are being examined. “We received information that a 13-year-old schoolgirl had jumped from the school roof. The inquiry is in progress, and it’s too early to reach any conclusions. Only after a detailed probe can clarity emerge,” he said.

Police are questioning school officials, classmates, and family members to piece together what may have led to the incident. CCTV footage from the premises is also being scrutinised. No suicide note has been recovered so far.

The body has been sent for post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at Sadar Police Station.
