Jalalabad renamed as ‘Parshurampuri’ in UP; Jitin Prasada thanks Amit Shah after Centre’s approval

Union Minister Jitin Prasada, who hails from Shahjahanpur district, thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for granting approval for the name change.

The Centre has approved the renaming of 'Jalalabad' town in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district as ‘Parshurampuri’.

Union Minister Jitin Prasada, who belongs to Shahjahanpur and is also a Member of Parliament from the Pilibhit constituency, expressed his gratitude to Home Minister Amit Shah for the approval. In a post on X, he wrote, “Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Honorable Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji for granting permission to change the name of Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to ‘Parshurampuri’!”

Jitin Prasada also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying the decision has given “a moment of pride for the entire Sanatani community.”

He further shared a Ministry of Home Affairs communication addressed to the UP Chief Secretary which stated that the Government of India has “No Objection” to changing the name of town “Jalalabad” to “Parshurampuri” in Shahjahanpur district.
