Senior advocate and BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill, late Tuesday night, in a scathing post on microblogging site X, slammed Air India, calling it the “worst airline”. His remarks come amid growing passenger complaints about the Tata-owned airline’s service quality.
Shergill alleged that Air India suffers from poor service standards, citing broken seats, unprofessional staff, inadequate ground support, and a disregard for customer service.
"If there was an Oscar equivalent for worst airlines, Air India would win hands down in every category," he wrote on X, adding, "Flying Air India is not a pleasant experience, but today broke all records!"
"Broken Seats, Worst Staff, Pathetic “on Ground” Support Staff, Give two hoots attitude about customer service!", he further remarked.

Shergill is not the only high-profile figure to express dissatisfaction with Air India’s services. Agriculture Minister and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also recently faced inconvenience while travelling on an Air India flight. Chouhan lashed out at Air India, criticising its service quality after he was allotted a broken and uncomfortable seat during a recent Bhopal to New Delhi flight.
Expressing his disappointment in a detailed post on X, the former Madhya Pradesh CM said he had expected better service standards after the airline’s takeover by the Tata Group.
Shortly after Chouhan’s criticism, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar also weighed in, questioning the declining service quality of Air India. "If it was anyone else other than the polite, gentleman minister @ChouhanShivraj ji, the person would have justifiably reacted angrily to such an incident," Chandrasekhar wrote on X.
He further warned that Air India’s reduced competition in the full-service airline sector had led to complacency, stating: "Tata’s takeover of @airindia has created a situation where reducing competition and consumer choice is leading to a ‘chalta hai’ attitude!"
Chandrasekhar urged the Tata Group to take urgent corrective measures, cautioning that continued service lapses could attract government and regulatory intervention.
